Southern e-mailed me yesterday saying that today (10 July) there would be a one day offer of advance fares on Southern with up to 90% discount. I wondered whether this was too good to be true but after a bit of searching I bought a return from Chichester to London for tomorrow for £1, another for next Wednesday for £1 and again for next Saturday for two for £2, my final purchase also for two on an August Saturday was even less at £1.40. In 1954 the cheap day return to London from Chichester was 14/- (70p), the August fare matches that!
If you are quick you might also get a bargain
